Join Mo Phillips-Spotts, founder of Momo’s Book Club for a special story time! Designed for children 4-8. This online story time is a great way to include and entertain families at home with curated topics on inclusion and history.
Mo brings a wealth of knowledge and resources to make learning fun. Her book selections are carefully curated to include diverse perspectives and stories. Covering everything from history, race, differently abled folks, and growing up in the modern day, story time with Mo is fun, educational learning that provides parents and kids the same language to discuss the world.
Book examples include:
Imogene’s Last Stand: Meet Imogene Tripp, a plucky girl with a passion for history. As a baby, her first words were “Four score and seven years ago.” In preschool, she finger-painted a map of the Oregon Trail. So it’s not surprising that when the mayor wants to tear down the long-neglected Liddleville Historical Society to make room for a shoelace factory, Imogene is desperate to convince the town how important its history is. But the townspeople won’t budge. What’s a history-loving kid to do? Filled with quotes from history’s biggest players–not to mention mini-bios–and lots of humor, this is the perfect book for budding historians.
Ruby Finds a Worry: Ruby loves being Ruby. Until, one day, she finds a worry. At first it’s not such a big worry, and that’s all right, but then it starts to grow. It gets bigger and bigger every day and it makes Ruby sad. How can Ruby get rid of it and feel like herself again? A perceptive and poignant story that is a must-have for all children’s bookshelves.
Jabari Jumps: Jabari is definitely ready to jump off the diving board. He’s finished his swimming lessons and passed his swim test. But when his dad squeezes his hand, Jabari squeezes back. In a sweetly appealing tale of overcoming your fears, newcomer Gaia Cornwall captures a moment between a patient and encouraging father and a determined little boy you can’t help but root for.
